1:07 - So the owners benefit financially from night baseball. Nothing shocking there. So how is that a bad thing? Baseball is a business.

I was listening to a late night radio interview of George Beverly Shea of the Billy Graham Association; he said one of his first jobs was in the offices of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City, signing in and assisting with forms people undergoing a medical examination for a Life Insurance Policy. He recalled one of the Applicants he assisted was Lou Gehrig.

This was a nicely done interview. Gehrig speaks well about the game of baseball as he knew it in his day. A lesson for present and future generations to get to know of The Iron Horse, as Gehrig was called. Thanks for presenting this soundtrack.

No ball players union…. Now we have MLBPA. I love hearing the Iron Horse speaking. Very articulate. And to hear him talk of all the greats of that time. Just incredible. Thank you. It gives me the warm feelings of what it would’ve been like back in the day.

It is sad that Mr. Gehrig did not want to talk about something way more valuable (facing his illness) to people than something irrelevant and fleeting as Baseball. God bless

Anyone thinking that the kid deserves a story. He doesn't. If they think that he deserves some silly crazed Hollywood horror film, he does not. Patty is obviously troubled. Hurt by even revisiting how a kid killed her childhood best friend. If she is hiding SOMETHING, then it's something that she doesn't want to talk about, but it's obvious that she kept it all hidden for so long because she didn't want to talk about it, but chose to in her own time. Anyone murdering their family does not deserve any special attention. Maybe she knows about family drama and she doesn't want to publicly shame them as the poor family is dead anyway. I don't believe in shaming the dead who are innocent people.

Im a MN native and lived in Dallas for 8 years. This is entirely too fascinating. Interestingly folks in Texas believe quite candidly that this was the motivation for the JFK assasination. JFK and his brother and Atty. General RFK were about to move the re-armament of the US (to a conflict in Southeast Asia)that would keep conflict off of this continent. It was Ratheon, Bell Helcopter, Lockheed Martin, etc. military-industrial machine and the military bases in Texas to protect that machine who were threatened. JFK/RFK were about to move everything to Seattle where Boeng and others were located. Texan Lyndon Johnson was the vp. There was only one and final way to stop the Kennedys. It happend not once but twice '63 & '68. You may think it sound like a conspiracy, but folks close to it at the time are very quick to agree it was the military-inndustrial machine that assasinated the US president.

My family lived a couple blocks from Quarry Hill park. And a run off of Silver Lake was at the end of our block. My brothers best friend lived at the end of our block and his family’s house was on the river bank. And their house was horrible damaged. I remember the Post Bulletin had sent a photograph and reporter out to our neighborhood and there is a picture of my sister carrying a bucket of muddy sludge from my brothers friends house. They had a assembly line grabbing for the buckets of water and muddy sludge. I was 11 years old. And I wasn’t strong enough to carry a full bucket. But I would take the empty buckets and run them around back to the back of the house to full more. Then I would run back up and run there would be another 6 or 8 buckets ready to go back down. They were basically building up a mud and sand dam. There were about 7 houses on our end we were at the end of the street at the run off area of Silver Lake. The run off ended at the back side of Quarry Hill park. One of thing I remember very well. Our neighbor that lived across the street from us. They always did their big family reunions in July. So they would be gone from middle of June until the end of July. They had lived there for almost 6 years. But usually only gave my parents a key to their house for the winter vacation they always took. But in 1978 for some reason they brought my parents their house key before they left in June. I remember the Mom came over with the key and said I know we normally only leave you are key in the winter. But something told me to give it to you now. The next day after my Mom had gotten all the water out of our basement. I went with my parents over to their house. Because I had been over there and my parents had never been Mom felt better going in with me. Thank God we did. On the wall of the steps going down to the basement. They had bolted electrical wires with a hinge to the wall to keep the wires in place. My Dad was right behind me as I opened the basement door. And he shined his flashlight down the stairs first. And he saw that all the wire had been pulled out away from the wall. So he knew that there were live wires on the basement floor. So he went on search of the fuse box and he was hoping it wasn’t in the basement. And he found it out in the garage. And flipped off all the juice to the house. My Mom and brother and sister and myself took empty boxes from the garage and started unloading their freezer. There wasn’t a lot of food but Mom didn’t want them coming home to a bunch of frozen food that went bad. So she stuck the 8 packages and put it in our big freezer and she wrote a note and stuck it on the fridge door saying that the freezer food was safe at our house. And my Dad and the other neighbors hauled the mud and yuck out of their basement. And Mom mopped they floor with soapy bleach water. And my Dad and a couple of the other neighbor Dad’s set out and rewired the basement and and actually ran it up the stairs properly. And they added a couple more lights and added switches to make the basement a actual use able space. And because of the mud they also had to fix the drain in the laundry room and fix the drain in the washer. Mud had backed up into the drain of the washer and it had overflowed down the washer. So again my Dad stepped up and fixed it. My parents did all the extras because they hoped that a neighbor they were confident enough to give their house keys to would look out for us. And if it had been my family that was out of town he hoped that those neighbors would look after our house as well as we looked after theirs. I hate to think about how terrible it would of been if we hadn’t gone over to check their house. The house could of caught fire because of the live wires. If it rained hard again the compromised basement could of leaked more. And the washer would of been ruined. But my Mom flushed out all the mud from the hose and rinsed the washer until the water ran out clear. She took the washer drum out and completely cleaned out the washing machine. After that they became neighbors that actually helped the neighbors around them.

I heard on a podcast that this man filmed the infamous footage, which I think are arguably the most watched seconds of film of the entire Overlord operation, of American soldiers falling on the beach. Is this true? BTW that man sounds like a great guy. His comments regarding 'not knowing he was poor' as a child, is a great lesson which I have also taken onboard throughout my life, and the world would be a richer place if more did so.
